A HERITAGE OF TWO GENERATIONS

A locally family owned and operated Jewellers based in St.Helier Jersey Channel Islands.

ESTABLISHED IN 1971

In 1971 Michael Emmanuel first started a small jewellers call Onyx Jewellers Ltd on Gloucester Street St. Helier Jersey. Dad worked in the shop for the first year then my mum worked there the following year, later in 1972 he moved into a new location on the corner of la colomberie and Green Street where they stayed till 1980. In 1980 dad managed to get a new shop in Queen Street where we still are to this day.

Experience & Quality

At age of 14 I was on the bench in Nigel Pearce Jewellers, but didn't care much for jewellery or working so I left and did a few different jobs but at 18 I found my way back into the shop with dad where I started learning my trade. As well as learning directly on the coal face I also completed my Diploma in Gemmology.

Gemstone Exploration

I moved to Australia looking for a fresh start and something new. This is where I got hands on experience with so many beautiful gemstones and made many contacts with different mines and miners. I I did more courses and found my love for gemstones. I worked in different mines all over Australia and found a new love for opal. I made friends with some lovely Lightning Ridge Opal mine owners

Ancestrol values & legacy

I still use the same petty cash tin dad had in ’71 and my tills are still wooden drawers. We maintain dad’s values of quality over quantity be true to ourselves, open and honest. Dad still comes in to give us a hand so don’t be surprised if you see him behind the counter.
